Banga Maitri Sansad (BMS) was founded in 1947 by a group of migrant Bengalis, who wished to bring the rich heritage of Bengal to Mumbai.
Today BMS is one of the oldest citizen-run charitable organisations in Mumbai with members from over four generations - from pre-Independence era to Gen-Zs.
Banga Maitri Sansad (BMS) was founded in 1947 by a section of Mumbai's Bengali community comprising of many prominent personalities and celebrities. Initially, BMS was established as a Socio-Cultural organisation with the desire to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Bengal embodied in its Festivals, Art, Music, Food and Attire. The objective was also to drive the community towards Divinity and greater good by hosting Bengal's biggest attractions Durga Puja, Kali Puja and other religious festivals.
BMS became a Registered Charitable Trust in 1959 and the focus since then has been to enhance the community's contribution to social and charitable causes.
Our growing family of 150 members come from diverse backgrounds, faiths, cultures and languages - a true image of a New & United India.
We celebrate and revel in the 'Bangaliana' ethos embodied in the Traditions, Customs, Festivals, Art, Culture, Literature, Music, Food & Attire of Bengal, and above all, a deep Reverence for the 'Divine' & Commitment to 'Greater Good'.
